WHAT ARE DOUBLES?

Doubles are addition facts where both numbers are the same: 3+3, 5+5, 7+7. These are the easiest facts to memorize because they follow a clear pattern. Knowing doubles by heart is a powerful shortcut!

3 + 3 = 6
1Both sides are the same!
= 6
5 + 5 = 10
1Double 5 is 10
= 10
7 + 7 = 14
1Double 7 is 14
= 14

LEADER TIP

Create a doubles chart for the classroom. Once students know doubles, near-doubles become automatic.
