Divide by 2 instantly by halving - and chain halves to divide by 4 and 8.

DIVISION BY 2 = HALVING

Dividing by 2 simply means finding half. Half of 16 is 8. For bigger numbers, halve the tens and ones separately: half of 84 = half of 80 (40) + half of 4 (2) = 42.

2Dividing by 2 is the same as halving!

= 8

LEADER TIP

Start with even numbers, then progress to odd. 'Half of 7' is a great discussion starter about fractions!
