Sharing problems ask how much each person or group gets: 24 pencils among 6 children = 24/6 = 4 pencils each. The total is divided into equal parts.

24 pencils shared equally among 6 children. How many each?
1Equal sharing: 24 / 6 = 4
2Each child gets 4 pencils

LEADER TIP

Remainders need interpretation! Sometimes round up (buses needed), sometimes the remainder IS the answer.
