EQUAL GROUPS IN REAL LIFE

Multiplication word problems often describe equal groups: boxes of items, rows of seats, packages of treats. Identify the number of groups and the size of each group, then multiply.

5 boxes with 8 crayons each. How many crayons?
15 equal groups of 8
25 x 8 = 40 crayons
= 40

LEADER TIP
