SAME AMOUNT, DIFFERENT NAMES

Equivalent fractions look different but mean the same amount. 1/2, 2/4 and 4/8 all cover the same part of a whole. Cutting a cake into more slices does not give you more cake.

1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6

1Multiply top and bottom by the same number

21/2 > ×2 > 2/4

31/2 > ×3 > 3/6

4All the same amount!
