SPLITTING INTO HALVES

One half means two equal parts, written 1/2. Fold a paper strip once and you get 2 halves. Half of 10 is 5 and half of 8 is 4, because halving is the same as sharing between two.

1Split 10 into 2 equal groups

210 ÷ 2 = 5

3Half of 10 is 5

= 5

Half of 24

124 ÷ 2 = 12

= 12
