Section 1 / 3
FINDING NUMBER PATTERNS

A pattern is a rule that tells you how numbers change. Look at the differences between consecutive numbers: +2, +3, ×2... Once you find the rule, you can predict what comes next. Patterns are the foundation of algebra!

2, 4, 6, 8, _
1Find the rule: +2 each time
2Next: 8 + 2 = 10
= 10
3, 6, 12, 24, _
1Find the rule: ×2 each time
2Next: 24 × 2 = 48
= 48

LEADER TIP

Use visual patterns first (colours, shapes), then transition to number sequences. Ask: what comes next? What's the rule?
